Alan drove this little speeder car from Minneapolis MN to Avery, ID on abandon trackback in the early 1980s prior to all the railroad track being pulled up. It was one of the last railroad cars to roll down the famous Hiawatha which includes the 1.6 mile St. Paul Tunnel. The picture of Alan sitting in the speeder car was taken in front of the depot in 1983 when he arrived in Avery. What a Ride!!! Thank you for the wonderful donation, Alan!

Join us in preserving the historic Avery Depot, a landmark of Idaho's railway legacy.

The historic Milwaukee RR Depot in Avery, Idaho, built in 1909, is in urgent need of repairs to preserve its rich history and continued service to the community. The depot requires a new roof, foundation repairs, plumbing, and extensive work on the floors and walls to prevent further deterioration. Without these critical restorations, this cherished landmark—home to a museum, post office, library, and community space—faces an uncertain future.
